Geothermal energy production involves tapping the heat present in subsurface rock and soil units. Natural steam from the production wells power turbine generator. Like all steam turbine generators, the force of steam is used to spin the turbine blades which spin the generator, producing electricity. But with geothermal energy, no fuels are burned. Electrical Engineers have, today, become the indispensable to society because of the increasing demand for electrical energy. The role of an electrical engineer is to design and develop more efficient power systems, and control equipment for the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy.
Work Settings
n modern plants much of the time is spent in offices or the control room, which may be air-conditioned and relatively quiet. However, when on inspection tours, workers may encounter hot, noisy conditions around the auxiliary machinery.
Education
To become an electrical engineer, it is necessary to have at least a Bachelor's degree electrical engineering.
Job Outlook
Electrical Engineers should have good job opportunities, and employment is expected to increase about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2014. Job growth is expected to be fastest in service- providing industries--particularly consulting firms that provide expertise in electronics engineering.
Salary
Experienced Electrical Engineers can make between $50,000 and $80,000 per year depending on educational level and experience.
