The first place many visitors stop is the tourism/visitor information center. Workers in tourism and visitor information centers are responsible for greeting visitors and making them feel welcome. They respond to visitors' inquiries about local attractions and or assist/advise visitors in planning the time they will spend in the region. Workers in these centers must be able to work nights and weekends.
Education
These jobs require a high school education and training.
Salary
Workers in Tourism/Visitor centers earn between $7 and $9 per hour.
Skill Requirements
These jobs require strong interpersonal skills and a friendly outgoing personality. An in depth knowledge of the area is a must along with good organizational skills. Many visitors will call the center so excellent phone and computer skills are essential.
