Mail Clerks prepare incoming and outgoing mail for distribution. Use hand or mail handling machines to time, stamp, open, read, sort, and route outgoing mail or packages. Duties may also include keeping necessary records and completed forms.


High School diploma required. Individuals employed in these occupations are trained on the job.

Work Schedule

Many food and beverage serving and related workers work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Some work split shiftsthey work for several hours during the middle of the day, take a few hours off in the afternoon, and then return to their jobs for evening hours.
