Unit secretaries perform general clerical duties, imprint patient information, transcribe written doctors and pharmacy orders, prepares requisitions for tests and procedures. Thet act as receptionist, receives and direct patient's visitors and other personnel: answer telephones, screen calls and relay massages directly to appropriate individuals.

Work requires the ability to follow and provide instructions to the public generally equivalent to a high school education

General medical and surgical hospitals - $10.44/hour Nursing care facilities - $9.86/hour Community care facilities for the elderly - $9.56/hour.
Work Schedule
Most work about 40 hours a week, but, because patients need care 24 hours a day, some work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Many work part time.
