Individuals in this position assist dietitians in the provision of food service and nutritional programs. Under the supervision of dietitians, they may plan and produce meals based on established guidelines, teach principles of food and nutrition, or counsel individuals.

Work Settings

Dietetic Assistants work in clean, well-lighted, and well-ventilated areas. However, some may work in warm, congested kitchens. Many are on their feet for much of the workday.


Most occupations in this zone require training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree. Some may require a bachelor's degree.Most significant source of training is moderate-term on-the-job training
