The primary responsibility of the Director of Sales and Marketing is to generate sales by developing marketing strategies and implementing marketing plans and budgets. They oversee sales representatives and are responsible for their performance. They often represent the facility at trade shows and public networking events and are constantly developing programs to attract customers to the facility.


Most Directors of Sales and Marketing hold a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. In most cases, these individuals need 4 years or more management experience to be considered for the position.


Most Directors of Sales and Marketing earn between $35,000 and $40,000 annually plus sales commissions.

Skill Requirements

Individuals in this position need to be creative thinkers and have the ability to work well as a team member including the ability to delegate tasks. Knowledge of media and advertising are necessary. They must have the ability to interact with various community groups and business leaders. Excellent interpersonal skills and human resource management skills are a must as well as good computer skills.
