They produce marketing plans and budgets, manage and schedule staff and work with national sales staff to generate bookings. They develop new programs based on market trends. Travel Agency Managers need human resource skills for hiring, releasing and training of employees. Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities. They establish and maintain budgets. A strong knowledge of tourism trends and destinations is required. A good deal of overnight travel is required. Average salary $28,000-$37,000/yr.

Group Tour Operator - Develops and markets group tours. They attend trade shows and visit areas to develop new tours. They develop marketing plan which includes promotion and advertising. Tour Operators have the responsibilities of a small business owner. Tour Operators need strong interpersonal and sales skills as well as the ability to work with a wide range of clients.
