Devises cost-accounting records and processes and compiles information to determine and record costs by department, division, cost centers, product and other groupings. Devises classifications for labor, material, expenses and other items for computing costs of new products or services. Analyzes costs appearing out of line with previous records. From available cost information, prepares reports, including manufacturing budgets, plant financial statements, operating control reports and variations from standard cost and reasons thereof. Develops and improves methods of calculating and controlling costs.
Work Settings
Office setting. The average workweek is 40 hours. While many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day, this position usually works during first shift.
