Under general supervision, conducts studies of specific administrative, scientific or engineering functions to determine the applicability of data processing or to improve existing applications. Identifies all aspects of the assigned problem and evaluates user requirements in terms of the capabilities of the available hardware and software. Develops flow charts, which outline the logical steps to be followed in solving the problem and prepares system specifications, including input and output formats. May provide system support to programmer who develops actual machine instructions. Does not include employees engaged primarily in organization or methods analysis.
Work Settings
Office setting. The average workweek is 40 hours. While many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day, this position usually works during first shift.
Education
Bachelor's degree and 2 years job experience
