Safety Director/Manager or Supervisor Plans, develops, implements and administers company-wide accident loss prevention programs, so as to minimize possible company financial loss and insure company compliance with local, state and federal safety legislation (including OSHA). Required to have thorough knowledge and understanding of accepted safety standards and practices. Responsible for the gathering, interpreting and preparation of injury and statistical data, accident reports and reports of costs of occurrences to identify possible problem areas requiring correction and for government audit and reporting requirements. May administer Workers Compensation program in conformance with legal requirements and company policy.
Work Settings
Office and manufacturing floor settings. The average workweek is 40 hours. While many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day, this position usually works during first shift.
Education
BS, OSHA and compliance training and job experience
