General Farm Worker - A general farm worker performs many tasks that assist in growing food crops and raising livestock. Some of the major responsibilities performed by a general farm worker may include applying pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer to crops and livestock; planting and harvesting food crops; and tending to livestock and poultry. Additional duties may include: operating milking machines and other processing equipment; supervising seasonal help; irrigating crops; and getting livestock products to market. Average income is $7.60/hr or $17,900/yr.

Agricultural Equipment Operators - Agricultural equipment operators drive farm equipment to till soil and to plant, cultivate, and harvest crops. They must be trained to operate this machinery safely, in order to avoid injuries to themselves or others and so that they do not destroy the crops that they are working to cultivate. They may also perform additional tasks, such as crop baling or hay operate stationary equipment to perform post-harvest tasks, husking, shelling, threshing, and ginning when needed. Average income is $22,700/yr.

Two Years of Education or an Associates Degree

First Line Supervisor/Manager- Agricultural Crop Workers - First Line Supervisors directly supervise and coordinate activities of agricultural crop. They are generally found in smaller establishments and perform both supervisory and management functions, such accounting, marketing, and personnel work, as well as perform some of the same duties as the workers they supervise when an additional hand is needed or when their other duties have been completed. Average salary is $17.33/hr or $36,040/yr.
