Analyzes and defines production methods and processes required to manufacture parts and products utilizing established and documented standards and variations. Prepares methods instructions to include machine number and set up procedures, tool lists, operation sequences, machine speeds and feeds, time standards, process routings and other pertinent data. Documents accepted methods and processes in standards records for reference or may work closely with manufacturing engineers in developing new methods and procedures, tool designs, etc., where existing standards are not applicable. Investigates production difficulties. Confers with production supervisor to adjust and remedy difficulties within prescribed limitations. Prepare cost reduction studies and cost estimates.

Work Settings

Office and manufacturing floor setting. The average workweek is 40 hours. While many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day, this position usually works during first shift

Education

Requires some specialized training or experience equivalent and more than 2 years of on-the-job experience.
