This position is responsible for control and movement of materials in and out of plants. This may involve responsibility for directing and administering purchasing, production scheduling and control, inventory and warehouse stock control, warehousing, sales order entry, customer service, traffic and shipping. Participates in preparations of annual forecasts with sales division. In addition, these managers may participate in capital purchases and long-term contract negotiations.
Work Settings
Office setting. The average workweek is 40 hours. While many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day, this position usually works during first shift.
Education
Position requires analytical, organizational and communications skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program and 5 years experience, including supervision
