Develop manufacturing methods and processes, writing operation sheets for products or tools, investigating and troubleshooting manufacturing problems, reviewing drawings and designs during the development phase, or preparing time studies and estimates for sales. Investigates, establishes and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, or methods of manufacturing, including make or buy decisions and facility layout as required for new or revised products. Plans and designs floor layouts to properly locate and coordinate equipment for efficient production.
Work Settings
Manufacturing floor setting. The average workweek is 40 hours. While many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day, this position usually works during first shift.
Education
BS or MS. Higher level jobs require degree plus experience.
