Construct units or products of ordinary design. Develop details, lay out and perform variety of operations, following standard methods and procedures. May set up and operate all types of power shears, bending, forming, and other sheet metal equipment. May assemble parts or products complete.
Work Settings
Manufacturing floor setting. The average workweek is 40 hours. Shift work and overtime is common. Many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day.
Education
High school diploma or GED; may require some vocational training or job-related course work; journey level requires at least 4 years job related experience.
