Responsible for the procurement, distribution, maintenance and replacement of material and personnel. Directs and supports program activities designed to provide internal and external customers with products. Plans and establishes sequence of operations to deliver products and to promote efficient utilization of resources. Develops methods, standards and systems to promote efficient resource utilization and security. Controls company property; scheduled deliveries based on production forecasts, material substitutions, storage and handling facilities, and maintenance requirements. Ensures storage and delivery products through a central warehouse; provides logistics analysis required to support future procurements. Provides input to procurement department for 'in time' stock replenishment. Analyzes data and specifications to determine standards and establish quality and delivery objectives. Coordinate quality control objectives to resolve logistic problems, maximize service reliability, and minimize cost.
Work Settings
Office setting - may have travel to interact with shipping suppliers, customers and distribution centers/warehouse. The average workweek is 40 hours. While many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day, this position usually works during first shift.
Education
BS Degree in Business or Logistics; 5 years experience in transportation/Logistics
